    Readers are more than just people who come to hear what you have to say, they are looking for something, often times something very specific. They could very well be looking for your product, but if they don’t feel appreciated, they are not likely to hang around.

    Consider some of these reasons why relationships with your readers are vital:

    1. These people have friends. After all, you really don’t know who is coming to your site to look at your content. You are, however, aware that they will have an influence over someone, somewhere. That sphere can be yours if they are truly satisfied with their relationship with you.

    2. They will have money. So long as they trust you, you may well be able to convert them from a visitor to a customer who uses your services or products. Now you have the potential for repeat business.

    3. They represent a portion of the population. Whatever their connections, they can be useful to you in building a better business. For example, those who own an online business can provide organic back links, those who operate blogs can bring you in as a guest writer, those who like to social bookmark can help create expert status for you, if they link to your work.

    Don’t treat readers as numbers, they could be very important to the future of your business. Connect with them.

    Normally, newsletters are sent out to your subscribers. Subscribers are people who visited your site and decided to receive your information by giving you their contact details. Each month, or whenever you send them out, they get an email with your newsletter or link to the newsletter.

This creates a feeling of exclusivity, as they are accessing a place that is especially reserved for them.

    The format you choose to use is up to you – but remember to take your time, and make it really nice. Whatever information you feel will interest your readers should go here. Don’t be tempted to be too flashy in the beginning, as some people are wary of this. In the beginning, keep it simple until they ask for more.     If you have a new product that needs feedback, post a video on YouTube. Anyone who reads this can post a comment on your efforts. This can be a place to demonstrate what you do or sell and show how people can benefit from doing business with you.

    Twitter

    Do you send tweets? If you are familiar with this, then you can use them to communicate with people about what you’re doing. They can get up-to-date information about not only the business but also personal info you want to share.

    Create a separate business and personal account so that you can manage both. If you find readers or customers who have potential as business associates and the like, you can choose to give them access to your personal space as well.
